MERCEDES-BENZ 280 GE (GFG 460.2) lang Feuerwehr VRW *TÜV + H*

Original early model fire engine, second owner, which has never been used for civilian purposes.

Vintage vehicle inspection (according to §23 StVZO for the allocation of an H-registration plate) passed recently.

MOT valid until 09/2027 ("no defects found" at DEKRA).

Year of manufacture 1981 / First registration month: 07-1981.

Original, only 29,800 total kilometers driven. Only used for fire service up to now.

Advanced emergency vehicle (VRW) with ZIEGLER body and Knurz-Kirsch generator with 5 kVA output.

German-made, kept in a garage, with the original vehicle registration document (only 2 owners) and was registered until recently.

The vehicle manufacturer listed in the original documents is GFG "Geländefahrzeug-Gesellschaft", which at the time was a joint production of Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria. This is one of the last vehicles built with this manufacturer designation; shortly thereafter, "Daimler-Benz" was also listed as the vehicle manufacturer in the registration documents.

A complete MATTER roll bar was installed in the vehicle in 1991 (properly registered in the documents).

Included is a small roof rack system for transporting long equipment.

The long 280 GE is the largest and most powerful of the first G-series, and is what could be ordered as standard from the factory as a Mercedes G-Class in the early years.

The six-cylinder inline gasoline engine M110 with 2717 ccm and 115 kW/156 hp starts and runs well.

The vehicle was most recently used primarily to transport a portable fire pump with suction hoses and accessories. Therefore, there are no seats in the back, and it has a loading area like a truck.

Unfortunately, no other seats are available besides the 2 front seats.

According to the original documents, it is a "3-seater" and the type of registration is "Other motor vehicle, fire engine, advanced emergency vehicle VRW".

The unladen weight is stated as 2360 kg.

The permissible total weight (originally 2900 kg) was increased to 3030 kg in 1991, according to the entry in the vehicle documents.

Therefore, this 280 GE currently has a payload of 670 kg.

Overall vehicle dimensions: length 4395 mm / width 1700 mm / height 2150 mm.

Tires 205/80R16 in good condition.

Winter tires with the snowflake symbol according to current legal requirements are mounted (DOT 2018).

Although the G does not have a trailer hitch, the necessary base frame is installed. Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide information on retrofitting/trailer load, as the corresponding fields for the trailer load in the original registration document are marked with "not applicable".

According to the oral account of the last vehicle owner, the Mercedes has not been involved in any accidents, but this cannot be documented in writing and is therefore passed on to the buyer as "information".

The 280 GE was driven a long distance on the highway to us, which it completed without any problems.

A new battery has recently been installed, and the gear linkage has been newly fitted.
